Class Two Driver

About the Role
A Contract Class Two (2) Driver position has arisen within Council's Technical Services Department (x1). Reporting to the Roads Foreman, the person will work five (5) days per week. The ideal candidate must have experience operating a motorised Water Bowser during road-construction works and a Tipper Truck for gravel dumping, and be reliable and able to work under pressure with little or no supervision.
Duties
- Drive a tipper truck to haul gravel, sand and quarry stones for road-maintenance projects.
- Drive and operate a motorised water bowser for water application/moisture for road compaction and dust suppression at Council construction sites.
- Perform daily basic machine inspections/checks.
- Drive a refuse compactor for refuse collection in Nyanga Town.
- Drive a lorry for transporting materials, equipment and staff to work sites.
- Follow approved routes and delivery schedules; ensure safe loading of trucks for hydraulic tipping.
- Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- Valid Class 2 driver's licence — clean disk with no endorsements, held for at least two years.
- Valid defensive-driving certificate from the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe.
- At least 2 years' experience driving heavy vehicles (Tipper, Motorised Water Bowser Truck or Refuse Compactor).
- A clean record with a traceable history.
- At least 30 years of age.
- At least 3 O-Level passes is an added advantage.
- An operator's certificate for relevant equipment is an added advantage.
