About the Role
Under the leadership of the Executive Dean, the incumbent shall provide strong strategic, planning and operational academic leadership across the Faculty to deliver an excellent student experience through the implementation of Heritage-based Education 5.0 and high professional practice. The Faculty of Engineering consists of the Departments of Agricultural Systems, Technology and Engineering; Electrical Power and Electronic System Engineering; and Geometallurgy & Mining Engineering.
Duties:
- Play a strategic role in shaping the Faculty and creating a high-performing staffing base.
- Support the Executive Dean in providing strong academic and strategic leadership.
- Ensure excellence in the student experience and implementation of the Faculty's strategic plan.
- Develop and lead initiatives in education and professional practice.
- Promote and implement Education 5.0 in teaching, research, innovation, industrialisation and community engagement.
- Assist in maintaining quality performance standards, chairing Quality Committee meetings and mobilising resources.
- Supervise and guide Department Heads and Faculty staff.

Requirements
- A Doctorate Degree (academic and/or professional) in one of the disciplines offered by the Faculty from an approved institution.
- At least Senior Lecturer Grade (or credentials that would qualify for appointment at that level).
- At least one (1) year experience as a Chairperson or Deputy Dean and at least five (5) years teaching experience in Higher Education.
- Experience in fieldwork, project and higher-degree supervision, and a proven track record of research, publications, collaboration, networking and resource mobilisation.
