About the Role
Key duties
- Fleet & logistics management: day-to-day fleet operations, route planning, fuel management, vehicle tracking and fleet allocation.
- Maintenance & technical oversight: routine inspections, job cards, defect diagnosis, and coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Statutory compliance & safety: valid licensing, Certificates of Fitness, ZINARA compliance, insurance and NSSA/OSHE safety standards.
- Driver supervision: schedules, telematics monitoring and enforcement of safety/operational policies.
- Relief driving: safely operate heavy trucks and staff buses during driver leave, sickness or emergencies.
- Administrative reporting: detailed fleet records and weekly/monthly performance reports.
Requirements
- A Diploma in Transport & Logistics Management or a related field (higher qualifications an added advantage).
- A valid, clean Class 1 driver's licence with requisite endorsements, valid medical certificate, retest and valid Defensive Driving Certificate (DDC).
- A minimum of five (5) years' practical experience in heavy fleet management, including operating staff buses and articulated heavy trucks.
- Strong knowledge of automotive mechanics, job-card procedures and vehicle tracking/telematics (e.g. Cartrack, Connected Car).
- Proficient in MS Office and computerised fleet/maintenance management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities; high integrity and professionalism.
