Kitchen Steward

The Sprout is hiring a Kitchen Steward.

Key duties

• Operate commercial dishwashers (load, monitor, unload) at standard safety temperatures; hand-wash heavy cookware (pots, pans, baking sheets, utensils) with designated soap and chemical sanitising sinks.
• Inspect clean items for spots, residue and chips; clean floors and walls (sweep, squeegee, mop) to keep them dry and non-slippery; sanitise prep surfaces, tables and cutting boards between shifts.
• Perform scheduled deep-cleaning of ovens, grills, exhaust hoods, vents, walk-in freezers and shelves; empty trash bins and manage commercial grease safely; maintain sorting/recycling stations.
• Stock the line with clean plates, pans and tools; organise storage rooms using FIFO; handle china, glass and silver with care to minimise breakage; basic prep (wash, peel, chop) and fetch/thaw food items to support the line.

• Reliable, hardworking and hygienic, able to work in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Willing to handle physical cleaning duties, follow food-safety standards and support the cook line during peak hours.
