Provincial Human Rights Officer – Education, Promotion, Research & Advocacy (Hwange & Chinhoyi)
About the Role
Job purpose
To implement human rights and administrative justice education, promotion, research and advocacy activities at the provincial level.
Duties and responsibilities
a. Participate in identifying target groups for human rights education and awareness, prepare concept notes and budget requisitions, facilitate participant mobilisation, develop content for human rights education, identify IEC materials, facilitate outreach sessions, participate in promotion activities, prepare reports, and draft press statements.
b. Research and identify content, draft and update content, and translate materials into local languages.
c. Participate in identifying research issues, draft research proposals, develop instruments, collect and analyse data, prepare draft research reports, and facilitate stakeholder engagements.
d. Identify human rights issues and challenges, assess current laws and policies, draft advocacy tools, organise validation workshops, and carry out stakeholder engagements and advocacy activities.
e. Draft concept notes, prepare stakeholder invitations, participate in meetings and workshops, compile minutes, and implement TWG activities.
f. Draft monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
g. Delegate work, provide feedback, conduct and review performance appraisals, and monitor compliance with policies.
Requirements
- A degree in Law, Education, a relevant Social Science degree or equivalent from a recognised institution.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar environment.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good research and report-writing skills.
- Possess sound Human Rights knowledge.
- Possess relevant language proficiency required in a province.
