About the Role

The National Handicraft Centre (NHC) is dedicated to preserving, developing, and globally marketing authentic Zimbabwean handicrafts and cultural heritage. As we accelerate institutional modernisation, expand into international export markets, and enhance our digital footprint, we seek a dynamic, results-driven, and visionary professional to lead our commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
- Develop and execute national and international marketing strategies positioning Zimbabwean handicrafts as premium products
- Lead digital transformation including e-commerce, content creation, and social media campaigns
- Manage brand identity across retail outlets, exhibitions, and promotions
- Conduct market research on global trends and export opportunities

Sales, Export & Business Development
- Drive retail and wholesale sales across physical and digital platforms
- Build relationships with international buyers, galleries, and tourism stakeholders
- Manage export logistics, compliance, and documentation
- Develop corporate gifting and B2B sales strategies

Artisan Engagement & Capacity Building
- Share market insights, quality standards, and trends with artisans
- Support training in pricing, financial literacy, and professional development
- Coordinate participation in exhibitions with partners and ministries

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Development, International Trade, or related discipline. Professional certification (e.g. CIM) is an advantage.
Minimum 3 years in sales and marketing management. Experience in export marketing, tourism, or creative industries preferred.
Digital marketing, CRM tools, and e-commerce platforms.
Knowledge of export procedures and trade regulations.
Strong relationship-building skills, entrepreneurial mindset, ability to engage both corporate stakeholders and grassroots artisans.
