Accountant (Grade 12)

Main duties and responsibilities

• Coordinating and leading audits, liaising with external auditors, and addressing audit findings.
• Leading the preparation of Council annual budgets and supplementary budgets. Consolidating departmental budgets, producing budget performance reports, and monitoring budget implementation against approved votes.
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts and variance analysis reports. Ensuring compliance with IPSAS, the Urban Councils Act, and budgetary circulars. Assisting in the timely preparation of final accounts and audit processes.

• At least 3 years of post-qualification experience at middle management level.
• PAAB, ACCA, CIMA, CIS, or CAA qualification is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years of budgeting/accounting experience in the public sector or a local authority.
