About the Role
Main duties
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and quarterly board reports in accordance with IFRS/IAS.
- Execute financial budgeting, variance analysis (actual vs budget) and cash-flow forecasting.
- Manage daily finance operations, working capital, credit control and investment portfolios.
- Enforce internal controls, departmental procedures, ISO standards and statutory/regulatory compliance.
- Oversee agency networks, reinsurance treaty returns, and coordinate internal and external audits.
- Manage procurement processes, supplier databases and vendor payments.
- Supervise, delegate to and evaluate the Assistant Accountant.
- Conduct bi-weekly broker visits and maintain relationships with banks, regulators (ZIMRA, NSSA, ZIMDEF) and legal counsel.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or Finance; Articled Clerk background required.
- Professional membership/certification (ACCA, Tax or Investment certificates); an MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior accounting or finance role (short-term insurance background preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), standard accounting packages and financial database management.
- Strong written, analytical and numerical skills with the ability to manage stress and meet deadlines.
