Accounting Assistant – Credit Control
About the Role
Emeritus Reinsurance is seeking a suitably qualified and highly motivated Accounting Assistant – Credit Control to join its Finance team. The role exists to support the credit control function by managing and monitoring the Company's receivables and payables to set standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for
- Accounting for inward and outward premiums receipts and payments.
- Follow up outstanding premiums from cedants and brokers, both local and external.
- Hold periodic and targeted meetings with cedants and brokers on premium collections.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of receivables and payables accounts.
- Receipting, allocation and reconciliation of payments from cedants' accounts.
- Prepare payments for claims and retrocessionaires.
- Ensure timely resolution of issues from both internal and external clients.
- Maintain accurate records of receivables and payables.
- Prepare audit schedules timeously.
- Prepare market and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of financial accounts.
- Review and monitor unallocated receipts.
- Handle IPEC applications.
- Prepare IPEC returns and reports timeously.
- Engage RBZ exchange control in relation to external payments.
- Deliver QPD and tax reports on time.
- Maintain relations with regulators.
Requirements
- BSc Honours Degree in Accounting.
- Progression towards professional qualifications such as ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
- Understanding of insurance business will be a distinct advantage.
- A minimum of two (2) years in an accounting environment.
