About the Role
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the safety and health documentation system (registers, statutory records, permits, legal appointments, inspection reports and SHE files).
- Capture, collate and analyse SHE data — incidents, near misses, leading and lagging indicators — and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and statistics.
- Support incident reporting, investigation logistics, corrective-action tracking and close-out verification.
- Coordinate the induction programme, toolbox talks, training schedules, competency records and contractor onboarding compliance.
- Assist with the occupational medical-surveillance programme (scheduling medicals, fitness certificates, confidential health records) and with inspections, audits tracking, risk-assessment reviews and emergency-preparedness drills.
- Assist in coordinating SHE meetings, campaigns, awareness initiatives and behaviour-based safety programmes; compile health and safety reports.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year in a safety and health administration/assistant role; mining, construction or heavy-industrial experience an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of the Mining (Management and Safety) Regulations, Factories and Works Act, NSSA scheme, Pneumoconiosis Act and Environmental Management Act.
- Trained in incident investigation, risk assessment and first aid; proficiency in SHE software and MS Office with advanced Excel and report-writing; strong organisation, communication and confidentiality.
