House Parent — Child Protection

Reporting to the Project Officer, the House Parent will provide child-centred case management and protection services for Children in Street Situations (CiSS) in Mutare — managing the full reintegration pathway from outreach and identification, through stabilization and rehabilitation, to family tracing, reunification and sustainable reintegration.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct day and night street outreach across key hotspot areas in Mutare District; lead identification and mapping of CiSS.
- Conduct immediate needs assessments and deliver trauma-informed care and Psychological First Aid (PFA).
- Manage case management and Individual Development, Tracing and Reintegration (IDTR) processes at the Place of Safety (POS) and on the streets.
- Aid family tracing, home visits, safety assessments and prepare children and families for reunification.
- Assist a trauma-informed Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programme, including counselling and life-skills activities.
- Work with caregivers to strengthen family capacities through training and livelihood linkages.
- Mobilise and mentor Community Childcare Workers and Child Protection Committees.
- Facilitate safe referrals into the POS with Social Workers and DSD probation officers.
- Implement structured daily routines, chores and recreational activities; monitor supplies; report maintenance within 24 hours.
- Maintain confidential case files using the National Case Management System (NCMS).
