Livestock Supervisor

Duties and responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the livestock, including feeding and health care of all domesticated animals.
• Maintaining accurate records of production, veterinary treatments and inventory.
• Liaise with animal welfare and safety standards.
• Inspecting livestock for signs of illness, injury or unusual behavior and notifying Operations Manager or veterinary of illness or injuries.
• Ensuring all animals are treated humanely and in accordance with government regulations.
• Coordinating activities such as breeding, feeding, and health maintenance.
• Supervising cattle herders and ensuring they perform their tasks effectively.
• Preparing reports on livestock production, health and management.
• Developing and implementing livestock management plans, including diseases control and breeding programs.
• Ordering supplies such as feed and veterinaries.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma or Degree in Animal Science, Livestock Management, Animal Health or related field.
• At least 5 years working experience in commercial livestock production.
• Strong Leadership, record keeping and problem solving.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good record keeping and reporting skills.
• High level of safety awareness and compliance.
