About the Role
Key responsibilities
- Operate imaging equipment (X-ray, MRI scanner, ultrasound, CT scanner); prepare and position patients correctly, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment for optimal operation and image quality; collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals.
- Optimise radiation safety protocols to minimise exposure; process and manage patient records accurately and confidentially.
- Administer contrast agents when necessary; perform routine QA/QC checks with a medical physicist; assist in developing imaging policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on advances in radiologic technology through continuing education.
Skills & competencies
- Experience with advanced imaging techniques; strong understanding of anatomy, pathology and medical terminology.
- Excellent patient care and communication; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment; attention to detail; teamwork; knowledge of radiation safety standards.
Requirements
- Registration with the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe (AHPCZ) and a valid Annual Practising Certificate.
- Proficiency in Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS); cannulation competency certificate.
