Welder

Department: Spatial Planning and Development. Reports to: Chief Foreman. Full-time, on-site, Gweru.

Job purpose

The Welder will carry out welding, fabrication, repair and maintenance work on Council infrastructure, equipment and facilities.

Qualifications and experience

• Qualified Class 1 Artisan who has served a four-year apprenticeship in Welding and Metal Fabrication, or Trade-Tested Artisan Class 1.
• A National Certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication is an added advantage.
• At least two years' relevant practical experience in welding and metal fabrication.
• Knowledge of welding equipment.
• MIG/TIG or gas welding experience will be an added advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings.
• Knowledge of safety procedures.
