GIS Officer (1 Year Renewable Contract)
About the Role
Main Duties:
- Develop, maintain and update the Council's Geographic Information System (GIS) database, including land use, infrastructure and natural resources data.
- Produce maps, spatial analyses and reports to support council planning, land allocation and decision-making.
- Collect, verify and digitise field data using GPS and other survey equipment.
- Support the Physical Planning and Natural Resources departments with spatial data for project implementation and monitoring.
- Provide technical support and training to council staff on the use of GIS software and systems.
- Perform any other duties related thereto as detailed in the job description.
Qualifications:
- A Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Geography, Land Survey or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS and/or QGIS, as well as related mapping and data management tools.
- At least 2 years' relevant working experience, preferably in a local authority or land management environment.
- Computer literate with strong data analysis skills.
- A clean criminal record.
- Must be a citizen of Zimbabwe.
- A clean Class 4 driver's licence is an added advantage.
