About the Role
The Job
- Plan and execute risk-based internal-audit assignments per the approved annual audit plan.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance.
- Audit core insurance operations (underwriting, claims, reinsurance, premium collections, treasury, finance).
- Assess compliance with IPEC regulations, statutory requirements, company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare clear, high-quality audit reports with practical recommendations and track management actions.
- Apply data-analytics techniques to enhance coverage and detect fraud indicators.
- Participate in investigations and special reviews; supervise, coach and mentor junior audit team members.
- Contribute to annual audit planning, enterprise risk assessments and Board Audit Committee reporting.
Requirements
- A recognised professional qualification (CA(Z), CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or CIA), in good standing.
- 3–5 years' relevant post-qualification internal/external audit experience, including at least 2 years at senior/supervisory level.
- Experience in insurance, financial services or another regulated environment is a distinct advantage.
- Sound knowledge of risk-based auditing, internal-control frameworks, corporate governance, ERM, IPEC regulations and the Insurance Act, IFRS (incl. IFRS 17) and relevant tax legislation.
- Proficiency in audit/data-analytics tools (IDEA, ACL, Power BI, advanced Excel); ERP/insurance core-system experience an advantage.
