About the Role
Hwange Colliery is seeking a Plant Metallurgist for the Coke Works and Gas Plant Section.
Key performance areas
- Providing technical support to the coke-oven battery and by-products plants.
- Monitoring coal quality from various mines and recommending optimum blending ratios to meet coke quality specifications.
- Conducting metallurgical accounting; leading investigations into process upsets, production losses, quality deviations and equipment performance issues.
- Developing and maintaining process-control strategies that enhance plant stability and performance.
- Compiling month-end and year-end sectional reports on throughput, efficiencies, utilisation, availability and operational unit costs.
- Leading plant-improvement projects; collating sectional budget information; liaising with coking-coal preparation sections.
- Carrying out SHE inspections and ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards; leading and training operations teams.

Requirements
Educational and professional qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- At least a Class 4 driver's licence.
