Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer: Tourism and Hospitality (Bulawayo and Matabeleland North)

The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following academic post. Full time.

POST 16: Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (4 posts), Faculty of Commerce, Department of Tourism and Hospitality: Bulawayo Regional Campus (1 post) and Matabeleland North Regional Campus (1 post). (The heading gives 4 posts but names these two campuses.)

Main responsibilities

• Leading in the development and launching of new programmes.
• Developing and producing distance teaching and open learning materials, including writing study guides.
• Developing, designing, outlining, reviewing or rebranding a minimum of one (1) programme per year.
• Conducting a minimum of two (2) tutorials per semester.
• Developing video tutorials.
• Carrying out research and creative work.
• Promoting University-wide initiatives.
• Establishing partnerships with industry and local communities.
• Fostering Education 5.0 through innovation and industrialisation.
• Undertaking community service and engagement.
• Interfacing with other faculties.
• Engaging in University service.
• Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Dean and/or Regional Director.

Qualifications and experience

• A minimum of a Master of Science in Tourism and Hospitality or a closely related field.
• A Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Tourism and Hospitality or a closely related field is a must.
• A PhD in Tourism and Hospitality is an added advantage.
• A minimum of two (2) years' teaching experience in an institution of higher learning is a requirement.
• Knowledge of distance education would be an added advantage.
