Marketing and Value Chain Expert
About the Role
Job Purpose
The Marketing and Value Chain Expert develops, coordinates and implements agricultural marketing and value chain development initiatives that improve market access, competitiveness, value addition, investment and commercialisation of agricultural commodities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement market and value chain development strategies for priority agricultural commodities.
- Identify market opportunities and constraints affecting agricultural value chains.
- Conduct value chain mapping, analysis and competitiveness assessments.
- Promote value addition, agro-processing and commercialisation initiatives.
- Facilitate market linkages between producers, processors, buyers, exporters, financial institutions and investors.
- Support development of contract farming and structured marketing systems.
- Coordinate value chain projects and monitor implementation progress.
- Identify investment opportunities and promote public-private partnerships.
- Support export market development and regional trade initiatives.
- Prepare project proposals, concept notes, business cases and funding proposals.
- Monitor commodity market trends, prices, supply, demand and competitiveness.
- Organise stakeholder consultations, workshops, trade fairs and investment forums.
- Prepare technical reports, policy briefs and management reports; maintain stakeholder databases.
Requirements
- Experience in agricultural marketing, value chain development, agro-processing or commercialisation.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder-engagement and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwe's agricultural value chains and regional trade.
