About the Role
KOPIA Zimbabwe Centre (Korea Partnership for Innovation of Agriculture) is seeking a motivated and responsible Farm Supervisor to support the management of its agricultural research and demonstration fields in Harare.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of farm operations and crop production activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and supervising general farm operations and field activities
- Planning and coordinating crop establishment, cultivation and harvesting
- Monitoring crop growth and field conditions
- Managing irrigation, fertiliser application, weeding and pest and disease control activities
- Supervising farm workers and ensuring that assigned field activities are properly carried out
- Maintaining farm tools, equipment, inputs and other agricultural materials
- Keeping basic records of crop production and farm activities
- Supporting agricultural field trials, demonstrations and other activities conducted by KOPIA Zimbabwe Centre
- Performing other farm-related duties as assigned
This is a contract position with an initial three-month probationary period. Subject to satisfactory performance, the contract may be extended with revised remuneration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Sciences, Crop Science, Agronomy or a related agricultural field is required
- Good knowledge of crop production and general farm management
- Ability to supervise and coordinate farm workers and field activities
- Practical understanding of planting, irrigation, fertilisation, pest and disease management, and harvesting
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day farm operations
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Previous practical experience in crop production or farm management will be an advantage
